The Francis Gooding Memorial Shield was held on the 6th of February 2010 at Innis
Fishery, 20 members took part in some beautiful sunny conditions. The fishing was
was outstanding, with a rod average of 3.4 fish per angler.
The fish were quite lethargic after such a prolonged cold spell and only wanted the flies presented very slow or static, ideal for fishing boobies. This turned out to be the best method when other factors were considered.
Eventual winner of the Shield was Dave Johns, who caught his 6 fish limit before lunch, Dave caught using a Cat’s Whisker booby fished slow or static.
