Supported by Snowbee UK.

This year’s competition was attended by 28 anglers. The anglers, for the most part,
found the fishing difficult, this was due in the main to the low water conditions.
There were 2 notable exceptions to this, John Tyzack from Stockport in
Cheshire who
has won the National Championship 5 times and local angler Lewis Hendrie. Lewis is
a former Youth International who has recently been competing at senior level both
showed why they are so good by catching double the amount of fish of their nearest
rivals.
The concentration levels required for this type of fishing are immense, as can been seen by Snowbee UK’s Sales and Marketing Manger Simon Kidd, seen here.
Lewis caught his fish by using 2 small ‘nymphs’ and letting the current drift them along, he also used a single dry fly when the fish were particularly difficult.
Our thanks go to out sponsor, Snowbee UK Ltd, who provided the Perpetual Trophy and the prizes for the event. We would also like to thank The Upper Teign Association who allow us to hold out competition on their water.
All of the fish were carefully measured by an independent controller and returned safely to the water.
The Peninsula Federation is looking for controllers who would be willing to help
with next years National Final to be held
on the River Dart, so if you would like
to help or show the level of commitment that this controller did then please contact
us.
This year we had 5 ladies competing, so if you would like to have a go or know more about it please contact us. We have a qualified coach who be only too pleased to show you how to fly fish on the beautiful river

Above are the top 3 anglers from the morning and afternoon sessions, 3 anglers from each session will go forward to the National Rivers Final on the Welsh Dee in August.
We have been awarded 8 places for the National Final, therefor the names in bold have qualified for the final.
** Alex Bobba who finished 4th in the morning session is unfortunately unavailable for the final.
** Simon Kidd who finished 2nd in the afternoon session is unfortunately unavailable for the final.
The final will be held on August 15th and 16th at Llangollen.
The top five anglers from the National Final will then go on to represent England in the International against Scotland, Ireland and Wales. These appearances for the National Team also count towards being picked for the European & World Team places.

Overall winner of the Snowbee Perpetual Trophy Lewis Hendrie
